Announcement icon At this point my sessions are primarily through video conferencing and phone. I am looking at opening up my office in the near future.
I aim to co-create the conditions for waking up and realizing the beauty and radiant Life that you already are. In the midst of your current suffering from past traumatic events and/or addictions this may seem like an impossible or distant dream. I am Somatic Psychotherapist and Mindfulness Practitioner. I facilitate mindful awareness of body sensations through to a range of somatic body mind interventions based on the latest knowledge in neurobiology. In accessing your body and mind's innate wisdom you will be able to release the effects of trauma and be free from compulsions and obsessions.
Suffering is experienced in the nervous system and body and isn't separate from our minds. Somatic Experiencing and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy are powerful mind body psychotherapies based on the latest neurobiological science and are uniquely effective in the release of trauma and developmental wounds in contrast to traditional talk therapy.
I am highly trained in yoga, meditation and mindfulness. The integration of the eastern wisdom traditions, and western somatic psychology allows for human beings to reach beyond just becoming functional in society, as medications and traditional therapies promise, towards the end of suffering and living from our true radiance.

Katherine A. Kelley, MA's Groups

Mindfulness Based Acudetox

Acudetox is auricular acupuncture, or acupuncture of the ears. I was trained through NADA to apply up to five fine-gauge, sterilized, one-time use stainless steel needles just under the skin at designated points in each ear. The needles remain there 30-45 minutes. Ordinarily, groups of people sit together while undergoing the treatment. The procedure functions as an adjunct to addiction treatment. Some benefits reported by both clients and clinicians are improved program retention, a more optimistic and cooperative attitude toward the process of recovery, as well as reductions in cravings, anxiety, sleep disturbance and need for pharmaceuticals.

The Body as Refuge

Mindfulness meditation practices for human beings whom have not experienced their bodies as a refuge, or whom no longer experience their bodies as a refuge because of the effects of traumatic experiences. We will learn to befriend the body and cultivate it as a resource for healing the effects of trauma and/or developmental and relational wounds. Groups will also involve creating safety and discussion.

Mindfulness Walking Meditation

This groups is also listed as "The Body as Refuge." That group was going to be indoors, but with Covid 19 that won't work. Walking meditation is an amazing way to befriend the body, mind, nature, and each other's presence. Walking together we begin to feel, see, hear and experience our environment and our own being in the spaciousness of our own awareness. There is a deep nourishing peace that we touch when experiencing life in the present moment. We will share our experience in verbal and non-verbal ways.
