About

Katelyn Smith is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) in the state of New Jersey and has spent the last several years working closely with individuals experiencing crises related to mental health, trauma and addiction. Katelyn has intimate knowledge of the mental health and addiction system having worked with individuals and families at several different levels of care including inpatient and intensive outpatient. Using a client centered strength based approach she treats every client with dignity and helps them break free from from shame and negative core beliefs to allow the confidence heal.
Katelyn uses multiple modalities to assist clients in developing skills to navigate stressors they may be facing and gain confidence in decision making. She focuses on providing a safe space for clients to express themselves and gain a deeper understanding of their strengths. Her client centered approach allows clients to feel empowered and resilient.
Katelyn is throughly trained in multiple modalities addressing trauma such as Trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, Attachment Theory, Mindfulness, Mental Health Screening, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Strength Based Theory,and Crisis Intervention. In addition to Katelyn’s mental health background she also has a background in forensic counseling.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Our DBT Group provides a form of cognitive behavior therapy used to treat a broad range of concerns and assist individuals in regulating emotions, triggers and anxiety. We offer a very safe supportive enviornment that sets clients up for success. A multi-faceted approach is used and tailored to the individual needs of each client while fostering a supportive group learning experience that opens the door to peer support to practice skills which are taught. Participants leave with improved self regulation and groundiung skills, improv ed relational skills, mindfullness, decision making skills and increased self esteem.
