Kate Westhoven
Psychologist, PsyD
Location
I provide couple counseling and individual psychotherapy to adults and adolescents with presenting concerns, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, grief and bereavement. In therapy, I focus on the individual strengths and wisdom of each person in an effort to support and assist their ability to make positive, effective, and mindful changes in their lives. Through a collaborative and caring relationship, I aim to create a safe space in which individuals and couples can increase their psychological insight, rework coping strategies, grieve losses, process traumas, and increase their overall well-being.
I hold a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology and have been licensed to practice as a Clinical Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia since 2005. I am a trauma informed therapist and have extensive post-graduate education and training in trauma work, addiction, grief and bereavement, and couples work.
I have practiced in a wide range of treatment environments to include outpatient, inpatient, and substance abuse recovery settings. I currently provide psychotherapy services in Old Town Alexandria. I offer free telephone consultations as the first step in determining how I might be helpful in assisting you with the changes you are seeking.
