The benefit of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is the versatility in its application to the many things one can struggle with in life. This may be the right approach for you if you are looking for relief from a struggle with emotion dysregulation (feeling as though your emotions are in the driver's seat and not you), Anxiety/Depression or other mood disorders, personality disorder, disordered eating behaviors, relationship issues, life-transition difficulties, trauma, grief, substance use, dissociation, behavioral issues, self-harm. If you are unsure if this is the right fit for your goals, please feel free to reach out and chat.
I'm a certified DBT therapist (14+ years in DBT) offering the approach of balancing acceptance without judgment of where you're at currently while also working together toward the change you hope to see in your life. The structure/interventions in DBT allow for individuals to gain skills for everyday life as well as the really difficult & painful moments.
It can be a scary and vulnerable thing to participate in therapy. Having someone in this with you to non-judgmentally figure out the path toward your goals is essential. Remember, you have the choice of the therapeutic approach and therapist. We aren't a "one-size-fits-all" and it is important to take time to find the right collaborator on this journey.
