Kate Gibson, PsyD, ABPP, Psychologist in Sarasota
I am a licensed psychologist focused on working with children, teens and their families on a variety of issues including trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, OCD, ADHD & behavior problems, helping with strained relationships and adjusting to changes in the family. I view each family as unique, aiming to identify the most effective treatment available for each situation and actively working together to develop and reach your goals. I have extensive experience utilizing treatments with strong research support, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). I offer psychological testing and post-partum mental health support.
I am board certified in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology. My specialty is treating trauma, so those who have experienced frightening events can regain a sense of safety and thrive. Another specialty is providing PCIT, a unique and effective treatment for young children struggling with problem behaviors and their parents.
I am certified in TF-CBT, and am certified as a PCIT therapist and within program trainer by PCIT International. I offer in home PCIT to help parents develop skills managing their young child's behavior problems.
