You have the skills you need to achieve your goals. Often, we aren’t conscious of what causes us stress, nor are we aware of the memories that we hold physically. Life on the planet is stressful, I know you don’t always feel like like you have the energy to face it. The fact is that you do continue to face it, that's an accomplishment. My goal is to help you figure "it "out. So often in life, we become experts at everything except ourselves. Together we will identify your goals, and then we will develop the plan to achieve them. If you would like to schedule an appointment, email me your name, birth date and your phone number.

Tired of feeling disconnected, sick of the repetitive arguments, or upset because your love life has fizzled? If you feel at a loss about what to do, I could help. I provide counseling to individuals and couples dealing with relationship problems, and specialize in intimacy issues. I particularly like working with middle aged and older adults, or interracial/intercultural couples of any age. Your marriage may be reeling from an affair; a past divorce may be impacting your readiness to date again; the aging process may have begun to change your body and your libido -- but you can find your way again with the right support.

I address a range of concerns with clients including depression, anxiety, relationships, addiction and trauma. I believe that therapy offers the unique opportunity to work on your relationship with yourself, which consequently improves your relationships with others. I guide clients towards a deeper self-awareness and greater emotional resiliency. In my work, I emphasize the importance of self-compassion and taking a mindful stance towards your thoughts and emotions. When we are able to approach our internal life with curiosity and compassion, life is much easier to navigate, and strong emotion states won't overwhelm us.

If someone were to ask you what matters most to you in your life, what would be your response? Perhaps it is to be the best parent you can be? To be a trusted and loved partner and friend? No longer letting fear and anxiety control your decisions? Or is it the simple, not so simple response of, happiness? Regardless of your response, therapy is often the most fruitful investment one can make on their journey to living a life of purpose and true meaning. It is my pleasure to walk alongside you as a sounding board, skill developer, cheerleader, and honest advisor as you explore what and who matter most to YOU.

Sometimes we come to a point where we feel like we’ve hit a wall. Maybe you’ve been doing therapy for years, but you still feel like there’s something that needs to break through. If this feels like where you’re finding yourself, I can help. I work specifically with female-identified clients who relate to the idea of being a highly-sensitive person, or HSP. Being a sensitive woman in our world can be a traumatizing experience in and of itself. Beyond that, HSPs often play the role of the scapegoat in abusive family systems, simply because they’re more aware of what’s going on. But there is nothing wrong with how you were made.

My person-centered approach allows me to connect easily with others. Whether it is your first time or you are therapy-experienced, I will take the time to get to know you, explore your unique perspective, and discover what it is you are hoping to address through therapy. As to an ideal client, I don't believe there is such a thing. What is most important is to find a good fit between the client and the therapist. Having a good, trusting therapy relationship is the best predictor of positive change. Wherever you are, whatever you are struggling with, I will work to help you achieve your goals.

Life leads to many instances where we feel overwhelmed, depleted, and in need of support. Maybe it is a life transition such as starting a new job, parenting, dealing with illness or the loss of a loved one, having an experience that left you scared or, perhaps something else. As people, we have the ability to heal, grow and transform our lives. Many times the path of healing feels stressful and is easier with the support of a counselor. Despite what our society often tells us; we do not have to bear this weight on our own and I am happy to help.

I strive to give each patient the experience of being clearly seen and deeply understood. This occurs through interactive inquiry into the unique life experiences of each person. As we explore the sources of anxiety and distress that typically bring someone in to see me, trust develops and becomes the foundation for continued growth. Gradually, suffering diminishes, and there is an increase in self understanding and personal freedom. My hope is for each patient to live fully in the present with a strong sense of self, and with the capacity to have relationships that are rich and deeply satisfying.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
