About
I describe my approach as informal and professional. I believe that the heart of good individual therapy is the relationship between the therapist and client. The most common complaint I hear from my clients about other therapists is either that they are a blank screen or they are overly focused on one perspective. Not me. I work with you to develop a plan. I am actively engaged, helping you learn how to help yourself. I also look at how various identities you may have (gender, racial, etc) impact on you and the issues you want to work on. When working with couples, I use an evidence-based approach focused on the present.
Some specialty areas are first responders, young adults, introverts, children/grandchildren of Holocaust survivors, academics, rural residents, musicians, LGBTQ issues, the sexually adventurous, couples therapy (I am Gottman Level 2 trained) and those exploring alternative relationship configurations such as open relationships.
I like to do online therapy for residents of California and Florida. I am comfortable working with people who are disturbed by current events who are committed to social justice issues. I am sex positive, and harm reduction oriented. I am not accepting new MEDI-CAL clients.
