About
I grew up in an Army family, I learned, early on, how to quickly adapt to change, and about resilience. All of my work with children, and their families, has caused me to marvel at their ability to adapt, grow, change, learn and heal. I work one-on-one with children, as well as with their families, utilizing play, and art therapies. I use a Cognitive Behavioral approach, among a variety of other therapy techniques, and always work from a strengths-based perspective. I work with all adults, who are motivated to improve their current situation by making needed changes, resolving issues, and re-imagining their lives.
I am currently working toward the Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential, through the Association for Play Therapy. Spent 10 years volunteering, answering a 24-hour telephone hotline, and co-facilitating support groups for sexual assault survivors, with an agency, which provides services to victims of sexual assault, and domestic violence.
I see children from age 7, adolescents, and adults across the life span. I also offer parental support, and assist them with strategies for improving parenting skills, and connection to their child/children. My practice accepts Virginia Medicaid insurance plans.
