I focus on working with adults, couples, and families, but my specialty is in working with couples. My approach to couples therapy is to work with my clients to identify the core issues that prevent them from having fulfilling, connected relationships rather than giving them short-term solutions. Identifying the underlying issues in the relationship that go beyond the "symptoms" expressed through fighting or distance is critical in effective couple's work. I believe that a therapist should be a good fit for a client, and when working with couples that both of you feel like I'm the right therapist.
My emphasis in working with my clients is on building a strong therapeutic relationship, as research has shown this is one of the most effective means of change in therapy. As every client is different, I tailor my treatment plan to the specific needs of each person, using your strengths as a foundation.
