My specializations include couples and marital counseling, individual therapy, behavioral health (i.e., the mind-body connection), mindfulness training, stress management, values/goals clarification, LGBT issues, and hypnosis. Understandably, clients want results that are both fast and lasting, so I tend to use some type of brief, solution-focused model in my work. I also have considerable experience utilizing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a method that is both quick and effective for relationship/family/parenting problems, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, chronic pain, guilt, insomnia, medical impairments, work stress, anger/resentment, smoking addiction, and many other difficult issues.

Every client's situation is unique, so treatment approaches and goals are always individualized. As a therapist since 1990, I have had the privilege of collaborating with an extremely diverse group of clients, empowering them to let go of hurts and move forward, to once again embrace life fully.

I have trained/supervised Psychology students and Psychiatry residents, given numerous workshops/seminars, and participated in research projects. I enjoy using guided visualizations in session and teaching clients self-hypnosis, deep relaxation, and mindfulness. I am currently working on a "Self-Help for Couples" book with my husband of 31 years, Dr. Ken Waldman.
