Welcome. The most common areas I treat in my practice include eating disorders, OCD, self-injurious behaviors, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. I enjoying working with clients of all ages. The decision to meet with a counselor can sometimes be difficult. My first goal is to offer a supportive and accepting environment where growth and healing can occur. I believe that self-acceptance is the first step toward growth and change. Life can be full of struggles and difficulties. I find that my clients are truly doing the best that they can under their circumstances, but are often stuck in maladaptive ways of coping.
I believe that "the person is not the problem; the problem is the problem". Approaches I utilize include, but are not limited to, ACT, CBT, Narrative Therapy, IFS, DBT and Expressive therapies (I am happy to share more about these). I also encourage my clients to envision how they would like to see themselves in their lives - what provides fulfillment.
I have worked in the mental health profession for 25 years (over 15 in private practice). I continue to develop my skills as a counselor through personal research and trainings. I strive to offer a supportive environment to my clients that will facilitate self-growth and recovery. Most importantly, I enjoy what I do!

Groups
mother/ daughter - self-esteem and body image

This seminar will address: how culture, media, and advertising can affect how we feel about ourselves - what we learn through the media about our roles as women - thinking patterns that contribute to self-esteem - how mothers can help improve the self-esteem of their daughters - the importance of meaning and purpose - how to incorporate "self-care" into our lives. Participants will be encouraged to participate through various activities and discussion. Last but not least, I hope this workshop will help to build relationships and will open the doors for mothers and daughters to be able to better communicate about these topics.
