As therapist I am committed to address life's challenges of transition and transformation, to enrich each client's ability to think creatively and responsibly about one's own life, and to support the client's vision for change. My goal: to assist the process of self-awareness and clarity; to rename and reconfigure what is significant; and to facilitate the process of creating new solutions of meaning. I perceive life as improvisatory art, more than a linear goal, and I seek to facilitate the client's integration of diverse emotions and experiences into a radiant whole.
I am person-centered in relationship, existential and humanistic in philosophy, eclectic in approach. I have twenty years of combined experience teaching and counseling in the university, hospital, and in private practice. My specialities include integrating the tools of creativity, including art and metaphor, the narrative, spirituality, and intuition.
Specialities include advanced training in clinical pastoral education, patient and family counseling from The University of Virginia Health Science Center. I see a broad spectrum of patients and family members managing psychological and medical trauma. I have resourcefulness in multiculturalism as I lived my formative years in Lebanon, Nigeria and India.
