Karen R. Stacey
Clinical Social Work/Therapist, LIMHP, LICSW
Sometimes bad things happen to good people. If you've experienced trauma (child abuse, sexual abuse, or chemical abuse), it is possible to "let go" of being unhappy and leave the "it's my fault" type of feelings in the past. If you’ve gone through a traumatic experience, you may be struggling with upsetting emotions, frightening memories, or a sense of constant danger that you just can’t kick. Or you may feel numb, disconnected, and unable to trust other people. But you should know that healing -- and hope -- are within your reach.
I use advanced training in effective therapy techniques (including Eye Movement Desensitizing and Reprocessing -- EMDR) to help clients reprocess memories or experiences that have resulted in a less productive life. The back-and-forth eye movements in EMDR work to “unfreeze” traumatic memories, allowing you to resolve troubling issues.
Recovering from a traumatic event takes time, and everyone heals at his or her own pace. But if months have passed and your symptoms aren’t letting up, you may need professional assistance. I'm here to help. Please call me for a free phone consultation.
