Taking the first step to get counseling takes courage. I specialize in working with adults and teens who are dealing with self harming behaviors, depression, family conflict, issues surrounding adoption, and suicidal thoughts. I work to provide an emotionally safe place where you can explore your struggles, find inner strengths, and be encouraged in relationships with others. Counseling can help you find stability in life by having a trusting and supportive therapist walk along side and support you in your personal journey of healing. Christian faith based counseling services are available upon request.
I am an EMDR Trained therapist as well as a DBT informed therapist, have worked as a houseparent for teen girls at a residential school, provided school-based outpatient therapy, and served as a parent trainer for adoptive and foster parents. My approach with teens is to "keep it real," and have honest and frank conversations.
My approaches to therapy are creative and eclectic as I am trained in sand tray, utilize art techniques, narrative, Internal Family Systems and am a certified TF-CBT provider. Additionally I am an EMDR Trained therapist through EMDRIA. I enjoy being a speaker at conferences & have spoken on topics of adoption, self-injury, compassion fatigue & other topics.
