I believe therapy should be a short-term experience that supports real change. I work with clients ages 6-11 and provide exciting and fun therapeutic experiences to help them build on their strengths. In a session the child is the "boss" and I follow their lead. This allows for ownership of the session and inspires a real desire to change. I am excited to work with your child in a way that is tailored to their personality and needs.
I offer a non-traditional approach. During the warmer months of the year; hopefully April through October (it IS Maine), I offer eco-play; which is play therapy outdoors at a public park in Harpswell that has a beach and trails. I LOVE eco-play and have seen kids progress much farther than when I was in an office. Being outdoors is healing in so many ways!
During the colder months; November through March, I offer play therapy by telehealth. I promise that it is REALLY fun! There is no shared screen with computer games. We actually PLAY, engaging in activities using art, music, movement and games. I've never had a kid NOT have fun in a telehealth session. Most kids prefer it since the session is in their room!

Anxiety and stress are best treated through breath and body work, sensory work and use of internal resources. Coping skills can be taught using Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques as well as breathing and mindfulness techniques. This can be done as part of an outdoor session and a telehealth session in conjunction with the play therapy.
