Hello! My name is Karen Gudino-Gutierrez, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in California providing services via telehealth. I work with children, adolescents, and adults and specialize in anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, grief, and stress. I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for adolescents and young adults who are facing challenges with life transitions, social stress, and other stressors that come along with growing up.
These challenges can often cause anxiety, low mood, and stress, and lead to maladaptive coping. I work to help clients become more self-aware of those behaviors in order to adapt healthy coping skills, problem-solve, and develop a more positive outlook on life.
During the first session, clients should expect to receive general information about therapy, and expectations, and tap into sharing concerns that lead them to seek therapy. I will be asking questions to have a better understanding of the client's mental health needs. This will help me plan what the next steps will be and how to best move forward.
