I trained in psychology because friends and even strangers were always asking me for help. Seriously, total strangers would come up to me in the laundromat and tell me their troubles, which I found unnerving, given that I was a complete mess myself. So I went to school. Learned some solid tools. Road tested those tools. I still get anxious and depressed at times. That's part of the human condition. But I know some things that can help, and I'd like to share them with you. I'm also trained as a coach, if you want to focus less on the past and more on the future. My life has not turned out "as advertised" and I'll bet yours hasn't either. I love helping people change situations that aren't working, or through major transitions. I believe loneliness lies at the bottom of much mental pain and can help you connect more. Or set and achieve important life goals. I have expertise in religious trauma and trauma from abuse.
I took the long road to becoming a therapist - an award-winning journalist for many years, I interviewed everyone from execs to bellydancers - until newspapers downsized, when I retrained as a psychotherapist. As for life experience, I have been a wife, mother to a large family, single mother working three jobs, and entrepreneur with my own theatre business.

We write and share our life stories, looking at them through both literary and therapeutic eyes. We look at the plot, characters, scenes, dialogue, and themes of our lives. Occasionally we will also explore through visual art, drama, music or movement.
