I have over 25 years experience as a psychodynamic psychotherapist, and 10 years as a certified Emotionally Focused Therapist for couples. I also worked with children and families at the former Pederson Krag Center from 2000-2003, and with college students at Stony Brook University's counseling center from 2003-2008. I work with individuals and couples with a range of presenting problems such as anxiety, depression, parenting and relationship issues.
My style is to actively engage in a non-judgmental way, always sensitive to creating an environment of trust in our sessions. Therapy helps you look at yourself through a different lens so that you can understand the distress that presents in your life, and use insight to change.
An EFT therapist sees problems through an attachment perspective looking at what gets in the way of our emotional connection to others. Over time, we develop ways of thinking and behaving that can negatively impact relationships. Gaining a deeper understanding of these patterns increases our ability to work through conflict and live more fulfilling lives.
