Using individual talk therapy and/or EMDR for trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. I help clients gain insight into what is getting in their way and to develop healthier coping strategies. I also work extensively with those struggling with addictions, including alcoholism and sexual addictions and compulsive internet pornography use. I have successfully helped break the interference of addictions and compulsions to lead healthier, more productive lives. In addition, I often work with spouses/partners who are struggling with the impact (and trauma) of these addictions on themselves and their relationships.
Although only one part of my practice, compulsive use of internet pornography is a painful issue for many individuals as well as their significant others. Recent studies of divorce attorneys have indicated that pornography use is cited as one of the major contributors to divorce for 50% of divorcing couples.
It may sound like a cliche, but my goal for you in therapy is not to change who you are, but in a dynamic, collaborative way, help you feel better and to make the small behavioral changes that will have larger, positive impacts on your daily life.
