Hello, I am Kandice Casillas, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I believe that the client is the expert in their life while I am a helper in understanding and making connections with the unknown. My areas of focus are trauma, depression, anxiety, communication, boundaries, self-acceptance, and self-compassion. I use a collection of Attachment-Based, Solution Focus, Narrative, CBT, Compassion Focused, and Client Centered approaches. I like to start with the basics of understanding the client's needs, finding coping skills that work, and then diving into the real problem at hand.
I am looking to work with adults who are seeking support. I am comfortable working with clients who experienced difficulty in their marriage/relationships, trouble using assertive communication to say what they want or need, anger outbursts, shame/guilt, etc... These problems and more can lead to depression and anxiety which I would love to explore.
I am assertive and compassionate with my clients. I like to listen and make room for my clients to speak or vent if needed. I also like to model assertive communication and healthy boundaries to help my clients set their own with others. I will challenge rigid boundaries to help my clients think outside the box.
