When it comes to specific diagnostic criteria and mental health needs, especially for the neurodivergent population, the word "deficit" comes up often. I am a firm believer that there are no "deficits" being observed, rather what is being observed is a nervous system that has its very own set of "rules"! My approach is strength-focused and rooted in my child development/developmental psychology background! I am neurodiversity-affirming and enjoy utilizing skills and tools that are individualized and meet you where you are at - on any given day.
I work with individuals ages 3-11 and utilize both play-based and art-based approaches within my Adlerian modality. Using creative mediums (toys, games, music, movement, art) is the language of a child and an essential change agent for dysfunctional feelings, thoughts, and behaviors they may be experiencing!
Whether they are experiencing executive functioning challenges, sensory sensitivities, social/emotional struggles, or just needing a space to be, my overall goal as a clinician is to better help children and tweens regain trust in who they are, who they want to become, and to allow their authenticity to shine!
