Kaitlyn McCarthy is a licensed clinical psychologist who graduated with her doctorate from Wright State University. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of Notre Dame and her post-doctoral fellowship at Oberlin College. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and philosophy from Miami University. Throughout her training and career, she has worked in a variety of settings including community mental health centers, college counseling centers, and long-term care facilities.
Dr. McCarthy has experience working with a wide array of presenting concerns including depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, eating disorders, trauma, domestic violence, sexual assault, relationship issues, women's issues and health issues. She has primarily worked with individuals aged 18+ and operates from a biopsychosocial framework.
She believes strongly in the interconnection of a person's biology, psychology, and social environment. She incorporates polyvagal theory and process-based therapy strategies from Interpersonal and Attachment frameworks. She also integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance Commitment Therapy techniques depending on the client's specific needs.
