Have you ever walked into a professional's office and felt like you had no say in your treatment? Have you ever felt that you had to educate your doctors or therapists on Queer issues? It's daunting and invalidating. I aim to create a safe environment where you are in charge of your treatment. As a therapist, I am here to help you navigate the treatment process with your goals at heart. Using person-centered therapy, EMDR, and art therapy, I hope to challenge you from a non-judgmental, trauma-informed framework to manage anxiety, depression, trauma, and PTSD.
Art is a universal human language and yet, can also be interpreted differently by each viewer. Sometimes it's hard to find words for our unique feelings and experiences. Art therapy is a great way for teens and adults to explore creativity, mindfulness, anxiety, depression, and traumas without the pressure of making gallery-worthy art.
If you think, "I can't even draw a stick figure!" I challenge you to come in and explore your creativity. You will never be forced to create artwork, but the option will always be there. Art therapy sessions are a spectrum, one session could look like all art-making and little discussion, while another may look like mostly talking and no art-making.
