My primary counseling modality is DBT. I have been DBT-informed for 4 of the 7 years I have been in clinical practice. Previously, I ran a DBT skills group in person in efforts to decrease relapse rates in a substance use population pool, as well as using individual protocols for various diagnoses. I find that providing clients with structured coping mechanisms and ways to handle their obstacles is the most effective way to meet their goals.
My main gravitation is towards clients with substance abuse, trauma, anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorders, as well as select personality disorder diagnoses. I also have a history supporting clients with stress management and general coping skills, ADHD, and change-of-life issues (moving, loss, handling world stress).
I want our time together to feel easy, safe, and generally restorative using active listening in a non-judgmental environment. I try to make sessions feel as conversational and as personal as is appropriate for the goals we are working on. I can equip confrontation, humor, and psychoeducation when needed.
