When was the last time you felt your body was able to rest feeling 100% safe? When's the last time you felt flexible, curious and open for connection? If it's been longer than a week, we can help. We help you reset your nervous system, which is stuck in fight, flight, or freeze, to a state of flexibility, curiosity, and safety without years of therapy. We help traumatized clients resolve flashbacks, sensation issues, autoimmune issues, triggers, PTSD, trauma issues, and addiction issues without reliving your story over and over. Triggers will be our roadmap to healing, helping the nervous system reset to a state of safety.

Sessions (regular & intensives) may incorporate Somatic Experiencing (SE), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and creative/expressive arts as needed.
You want to heal but you are TIRED of just talking every week! We communicate effectively WITH your mind and body in other ways. You don't have to be "creative" to heal through expressive arts and somatic therapy. You can get to where you want to be in life through experiencing somatic healing as well as creative/expressive art therapy (& you don’t have to be “good” at art). You are NOT crazy and we can help your brain and your body know that too. WE work at YOUR pace for YOUR situation. You don’t have the time, money, or energy to “test drive” therapists or modalities. Burning out, health issues, relationships…!

I am certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and we offer DBT skills groups for adults and teens.
On the surface it looks like anger or constant irritation, but beneath the turbulent current of destructive behaviors are emotions like sadness and grief, pain, sorrow and fear. Anger is much more preferable if a lot of your life you have felt powerless or helpless. As you might be figuring out, the power of intense, uncontrollable anger only leads to self-destruction and can deeply hurts others. Self-destruction can look a lot like being stuck, resistance to change even when miserable, using substances, or being undisciplined. It can feel lonely.

Experience the transformative power of EMDR. Change is possible! You feel stuck and the answers don't seem to be working for you. Often, you experience underlying feelings of sadness, shame, anger, fear, and loneliness despite “living the good life.” You can’t sleep, or find yourself triggered by the smallest things. You don't completely understand the pain, and it’s left you confused and hopeless. Others seem to go so effortlessly through their days, while you’re struggling to keep it together. It takes so much effort to get out of bed, and it is hard to enjoy the life you have worked so hard to build.

I am committed to helping people. I have a passion for supervision. I believe that supervision helped me to become a confident clinician and I feel empowered to help others find their clinical voice as well. I also have a passion for people dealing with chronic illness. People who deal with health issues on a daily basis need someone to talk to as they navigate the struggles of getting well. As a parent of four children I understand that parenting can be difficult and at times frustrating. I want to help parents find the joys in raising children and help them feel successful as caregivers. I am kind, compassionate, and honest.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
