I believe in the power of connection and relationships. Many times in our lives, we come into places where we get stuck, feel disconnected, and wonder about our place in this life. This can look like depression, anxiety, disconnection, broken relationships, or more. My aim is to help you feel more settled within yourself, to develop more fulfilling and satisfying relationships, and to create purpose and meaning in your life. Through our time together, it's my sincere hope you will begin to experience the happiness and satisfaction that you are searching for in your life

I really enjoy working with adolescents and adults who struggle with anxiety, PTSD, and depression.
Often people begin looking for a counselor when things in their life haven’t been going the way they want. Perhaps you’re struggling with worrying about the future, or stuck thinking about the past. Maybe something feels missing, or maybe you feel lost and unsure how to move forward in your life. Or like many, perhaps you’re sitting there wishing life came with directions so you could start sorting out the storm of thoughts, emotions, and memories you face each day. If so, I want you to know you don’t have to face this alone. I’m here to help.

I believe we all have the capacity to feel more regulate and secure with our lives. I work with adults and teens hoping to improve upon their current coping strategies to heal. Many of my clients have struggled with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma and grief. Some clients find themselves navigating life transitions and are struggling to not lose themselves in the process. Together we create a therapy plan that will work with your goals. Much of my therapy involves exploring past and present attachments, strengthening your internal and external resources and teaching skills that you can use daily to feel better.

Are you painfully aware of the distance between who you would like to be and who you feel that you are? Do you feel hungry to find a way of living that suits you better and is more sustainable? A way of living that doesn’t leave you stressed, depressed or anxious at the end of the day? If this is you, you might be struggling to find a way to make the changes your deepest heart is hungry for. Henry David Thoreau didn’t speak lightly when he wrote “The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation.” As you look around you see this in the faces of people around you. You don’t want to embrace a half-lived, empty life.

I have worked with a variety of people from Trauma, ADHD, Anxiety, substance abuse, and more.
As a Therapist, I specialize in ILF Neurofeedback. Neurofeedback is a noninvasive brain training method that does not involve "traditional talk therapy." Neurofeedback works by training your brain like a personal trainer at the gym. EEG Biofeedback has been around for over 40 years. It was originally used to help epilepsy and has now advanced to help a multitude of issues from PTST, Autism, ADHD, Migraines, and more. I have trained both in Europe and in the USA. What I love about Neurofeedback is it offers another and different method in helping us with our own issues.

Your Story Matters. That is the philosophy behind Healthy Minds Counseling. Before any movement can occur, you need a safe and non-judgmental space where your concerns, fears, and goals can be identified and addressed for the singular purpose of positive personal growth.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
