Dr. Shelton is a clinical psychologist, born and raised in the Mahoning Valley. He has experience working in a variety of settings, including community mental health, behavioral schools, college counseling, outpatient clinics, inpatient hospitals and corrections. He enjoys working with a wide range of patient populations of all ages and demographics, providing individual, family, and couples psychotherapy. Over the course of his career, Dr. Shelton has worked with patients struggling with a multitude of concerns, including anxiety, depression, identity concerns, behavioral problems, schizophrenia, personality disorders and more.
Dr. Shelton strongly believes in utilizing an idiographic approach which is tailored specifically to the patient's strengths and limitations. This often includes a Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavioral, ACT and Gestalt framework. Above all, Dr. Shelton aims to develop a trusting and collaborative relationship with the patient.
Dr. Shelton is trained in providing psychotherapy and conducting psychological evaluations to include that of forensic nature.
