Many of the teens and adults that I work with are dealing with addiction, ADHD, or the lasting effects of trauma — and often feel like they don't quite fit the mainstream mold. I have a background in neuroscience, clinical psychology, and social work, which shapes how I think about people: surface-level symptoms rarely tell the whole story. My approach is Psychodynamic — we look beneath the presenting problem to the patterns, early experiences, and unconscious processes that are actually driving it.
I specialize in treating trauma and addiction in adults and adolescents. I provide trauma-informed gender- and sexuality-affirming treatment. I am certified in EMDR therapy and Mindfulness Oriented Recovery Enhancement. I am a proponent of mindfulness meditation, and have published extensively on the positive effects of mindfulness on the brain and body.
I know that it can be difficult, given the stigma of mental health, to build up the courage to seek therapy. I hope to provide a safe space for folks of all persuasions to seek shelter from the current turmoil and uncertainty facing our country and the rest of the world. Within this safe space, I hope we can begin a journey for your growth and healing.
