About
I am an individual, couples, and family therapist who specializes in complex trauma and relationship issues, especially in immigrant and cross-cultural families. I believe that our symptoms (depression, anxiety, substance use, disordered eating, etc.) make sense in the context of our early experiences, family histories, and systems we live in. We learn resilience and survival strategies in difficult situations that may not be sustainable for us now. Therapy has lasting results when it starts with an exploration of who you are as a whole person, not just the symptoms you are experiencing right now.
I offer a warm and collaborative space that is responsive to your values and needs. We will address your current concerns as well as underlying patterns and structures that got you here in the first place. I believe that sustained healing comes from connecting with yourself to explore the root causes of pain as well as nurture your unique strengths.
With couples and families, I work from a relational and family systems perspective which focuses on helping family members understand each other and practice new ways of relating. I attend to issues of power, privilege and oppression in relationships, and I welcome families of all configurations to be as they are in their complexity.
