Acceptance Commitment Therapy
ACT is an evidenced-based therapy for addiction focusing on embracing strong negative feelings rather than being desperate to make them disappear. This is important for long-term recovery because many relapse due to how terrible they "feel." I also teach relaxation techniques to give a break from anxiety, racing thoughts, and that feeling like you want to jump out of your skin. ACT brings truth and reality to the experience and helps learn skills of identifying and managing strong emotions in a healthy way.
