I am primarily an Art Therapist. I love making and processing art with clients from all walks of life. Oftentimes we're carrying pain that isn't ours to carry, or pain that we feel protects us. The art allows us to converse with parts of ourselves we have tucked away in order to protect ourselves. Adult clients who come in, ready to look at themselves and heal pain that has plagued them are a joy to walk alongside in their journey. I am also experienced and greatly enjoy working with children and teenagers who are nursing hurt that needs to be expressed. Kids and teens who have experienced grief and trauma can find safety in art.
I use Art Therapy in sessions with clients of all ages. In my therapeutic approach to child therapy, I give children a space to express themselves while supporting their caregivers. To do this, I use a mix of one-on-one counseling with children, and separate meetings with their caregivers.
Many of us learned to push away or reject parts of ourselves as children. We fear that we are “too much” or that things will fall apart somehow if we show our true selves. One of my goals in my work is to help individuals embrace these lost pieces of self, and to help parents create a home for their children where they do not need to hide themselves away.
