Evolutionarily speaking, we weren’t optimized for the modern world. At the very least, not Instagram algorithms, LinkedIn influencers, 24/7 catastrophization, Slack notifications and TikTok. The onslaught of information and demands, both personal and professional, can leave us feeling nonpresent, unmotivated, out of control, and even existential. For some that manifests as anxiety - and for others depression. Still, the root is often the same - and this is where therapy, along with lifestyle changes, often makes a huge difference.
I often compare the process to working with a personal trainer - the work will have its necessary challenges, but the process itself is quite simple and rewarding. While kindness, empathy, and humor are big parts of my approach, I have been called a holistic and ‘action-oriented therapist’ (blame my corporate past).
We’ll do classic therapy, but we’ll also strategize around how you’re socializing, working, eating, moving your body, and basic mindfulness. And I’ll help keep you accountable - No matter what, finding a therapist can be hell (ha) so I’d look forward to an initial consultation to see if I’m the right fit - or at least help point you in the right direction.
