I am currently the CEO and CMO of Summit Behavioral Health Consultants, founded in 2019. From 1984 until 2013, I was at the University of Pittsburgh as Professor of Psychiatry, Chief of Geriatric Psychiatry at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and Professor at the Katz Graduate School of Business. As Fellowship Director, I have trained over 75 geriatric psychiatrists working in the U.S. and worldwide. I have authored over 75 peer-reviewed articles.
I have a deep appreciation of the healing power of medications but also the risks and dangers of overmedicating elders. I am also aware of the profound healing powers of psychotherapy, and when and how to refer my patients for therapy either instead of meds, or as augmentation.
I approach all of my patients understanding the scientific evidence that can guide treatment, and add in my 50 years of clinical experience.
