I have extensive experience working with clients who have a trauma history. I am trained in EMDR and also a polyvagal approach. I bring curiousity, respect and kindness to my work. Clients come to therapy because something is no longer working well for them. Together we discover what it is, how it impacts you, what effect is having and what might be some alternatives. Let's explore the history, what those good reasons might be, and see if they are still serving you well or if some alternatives might be a better fit. I always bring in the wisdom of our central nervous system to help. I do not take any insurance and virtual only.
I offer a systemic approach that takes into account beliefs and values and history but is grounded in the present and what brings you to therapy right now, so that you feel like you are getting some real help and making some changes that feel useful and helpful to you. There are very good reasons why we are the way we are and feel what we feel.
The work together is a collaboration and the client leads as to the pacing and depth that feels right and comfortable and safe. We pay attention to what the central nervous system is telling us and honor that as well. Safety and connection go hand in hand. I like to go slowly and calmly, Feeling overwhelmed is never helpful.
