My name is Juanita Fontenot, and I believe in a person-centered approach to everything, as we are humans first. I also think the resiliency of the human spirit is often unnoticed but should be celebrated. We all have value, and once you believe this, the impact is life-changing. I want to work with you! You who have doubted your value because of what others have said, you who want to make a change, but feel stuck because it's just too much, you who are willing to do the work to make the change you wish to see. Our first session is an introduction to each other. We complete assessments together, and I gather background information. We discuss your goals, and I affirm your choice to decide whether or not you want to continue working with me.
I don't think I work magic, but I listen. I have found that really listening with empathy is the best foundation to build a strong therapeutic alliance. I am a stranger asking deeply private things. I respect your reluctance, and that empathy is usually enough to start with.
