I’m a firm believer that regardless of age and race we all possess the agency and power to grow. As a man of color, creating a safe space for our culture is a priority in my practice. The hurdles of acculturation, sexism, and discrimination within our community are normalized enough to not question them. Through the use of cognitive-behavioral interventions and mindfulness techniques clients will be empowered to identify what they would like to change in their lives.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) focuses on teaching clients specific skills to overcome everyday obstacles. CBT allows clients to gain better insight into their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. No one person can change our lives in a 45-minute session. However, with patience, trust, and commitment to a better self, growth will come.
