About
We are born to love and be loved. Yet, difficult work, home, or health challenges, high sensitivity, introversion, rocky relationships, relocation, or unresolved childhood issues can make us feel unloved, resulting in depression, anxiety, stress, mistrust, grief, anger, loneliness, or low self-esteem. I provide a safe haven to explore your innermost feelings, thoughts, experiences, desires; I want to hear your story. I listen attentively, acknowledge your feelings, and gently identify/examine self-defeating thoughts and behavior patterns, causing suffering. We will develop and practice ways to reduce stress and anxiety, diminish depression, increase self-confidence, and enhance well-being.
I am practical, neutral, and guide effective communication. Together, we will identify the words, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, causing distress in your relationships. In a warm, engaging manner, I will offer tools to help you refine communication skills, enhance empathy, embrace self-compassion, and deepen trust, connection, intimacy, and love.
I incorporate dreamwork, writing, sandplay, myths, art, and movies into talk therapy customized for your unique needs. For your comfort, my office is located in a charming Queen Anne Victorian house located in downtown Santa Rosa with free parking. I look forward to hearing from you soon. ~ Dr. Joy
