With nearly two decades of experience working in the high-stress environment of emergency prehospital medical care as an Army combat medic and as a paramedic/firefighter, Josh brings a passion for improving the mental health of his clients to Lyon Counseling Center. Relying on building authentic connection with his clients, Josh is focused on helping people work through traumatic exposures, PTSD, anxiety, and depression using a variety of therapeutic approaches to best meet the needs of the individual.
Much of my work is focused on dealing with trauma and the effects that trauma has on a person's life, both acutely and long-term. I use a client-centric approach in therapy and frequently use elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as Dialectical Behavior Therapy throughout my conversations with clients to best meet their needs.
In addition to providing therapy, I recently launched a podcast where veterans, first responders, and healthcare professionals have deeply personal conversations with me about their personal struggles with mental health.
