Entering therapy is an act of courage. It's a commitment to evolution and creating deeper connections to yourself and others. Before beginning this process, I ask that you clarify your intent; What do you want from therapy? What do you need to change? How do you want to grow? What do you need from a therapist? These answers will inform your progress. Therapy, while empowering, can also be challenging and uncomfortable. Sharing old wounds, staying in the moment, self-soothing, and risking being seen and heard is hard work. I've assisted many people to facilitate this process, and I believe I can support you as well.
I integrate relational, developmental, systemic, and psychodynamic models of therapy. This translates into a belief that good therapy is like a strong relationship. It embodies vulnerability, honesty, clear and respectful boundaries, curiosity, and humor. In short, therapy is a willingness to move from pain to become one's personal and relational best.
I offer an opportunity to be seen; to explore your sense of self, worth, and relationship potential. This process evolves from risk taking, honest self-appraisal, and advocating for what you want. Therapy invites movement towards evolution; changing unhelpful patterns, and creating a more nuanced sense of self and relationship to others.
