I am a clinical psychologist, in private practice over 20 years. My educational background includes a doctoral degree from the highly esteemed program in humanistic psychology at Georgia State University, study at the City College of New York and the University of Illinois at Chicago, and an undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Texas at Austin. I like to work with all kinds of people with many types of issues. Among my areas of interest are depression, fear and anxiety, learning to lower stress, couples' problems, parenting, improving family relationships, and gay and lesbian concerns.
I try to help people meet challenges which occur at different stages of life, such as making career and relationship decisions in early adulthood and dealing with accelerated change and loss in our older years. Therapy often involves learning to see the glass as half full rather than half empty,
learning to let go and enjoy the present moment, and often results in deeper acceptance of oneself and the flow of life. My style as a therapist is supportive and relaxed. I use a combination of cognitive-behavioral techniques, family systems, mindfulness, and other approaches.
