I became a psychologist to help individuals learn to appreciate their individuality and understand that not everyone learns, processes, and thinks the same way; but rather everyone is unique and can benefit from therapy. I enjoy teaching coping skills to people so they can feel more empowered and take control of their own lives. I find this especially important when working with clients that have had a past diagnosis of a learning disorder. I feel everyone has the potential for growth but the path to growth is not the same for everyone.
Coping skill: Mindfulness- improves focus and happiness, encourages people to live in the present and to let go of emotional suffering. Emotion Regulation- Increases self-regulation of mood. Distress Tolerance- reduces reactivity, helps survive crises. Interpersonal Effectiveness- promotes open communication, aids in setting personal limits in relationships.
I am committed to preventing individuals from falling through the cracks of the mental health system. I strive to ensure all calls and messages are returned by myself or an Evolution Mental Health professional within 24 hours during the work week to help individuals access services.
