About
Life's struggles can cause confusion, discomfort, and unhappiness in our life. Issues that are troubling can lead to substance use, increased stress, and or other unsettling thoughts/behaviors often resulting in unpleasant actions or regrettable decisions. It has been stated, "a wise man [person] seeks counsel", and truly a person who recognizes the benefits of counseling demonstrates action toward a healthier lifestyle and positive mental health. Regardless of the reasons why, it is important to feel empowered to overcome them and effectively cope with them in a more effective, healthier way.
My approach to counseling is recognizing the strengths of a person and to build upon one's ability to move beyond the concern. My theoretical style is a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach utilizing a strengths-based format. Individuals are encouraged to explore the thought-feeling-behavioral connections and develop ways to create change for you.
The premise that you are capable of change and there is hope permeates each session. Whether its discovering the etiology of your concerns, or developing effective ways to address them, we move through the process at your pace in a confidential manner. Together we will work toward your goals and develop strategies that are realistic and safe for you.
