Hi. I'm Joey Achacoso. For over 20 years as a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have helped people find positive ways to connect with themselves and their past, with their partners and children, and with their world. I work with people of all ages and use primarily a Rogerian approach where I meet you where you are and follow your lead in how we progress in our journey together in person or online. My communication style is calm, accommodating, and personable. I want you to feel at ease and safe when telling me about anything. I listen to everyone I help with compassion. During each of our visits, you will be seen and heard.
I vary the therapeutic techniques in our work together based on your needs and goals in each visit. I frequently practice these therapeutic approaches: cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, play, art, sand-tray, music, and adventure-based family therapy.
What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend the majority of our time with you sharing how you’ve been feeling recently and having conversations to better understand the source of these feelings. I will ensure that you feel comfortable and safe in the space where we share our conversations.
