Accepting new clients in-office and telehealth, Mondays-Fridays. I am not a counselor who only "repeats back what you just said" (though this is important). I believe that counselors need both competency and wisdom, in order to be effective. My aim as a counselor is to earn your trust and respect, so that you can feel confident in the counseling process. Many of the psychological views and tools used in session have been developed through experience, mentorship, and my own mental health journey.
I help people deepen their understanding of mental health, develop strategic thinking, and create a practical plan moving forward. Learning to validate and interpret emotions plays a vital role in this process. These essential skills can help us to develop ourselves and make healthier decisions in relationships.
Mental health diagnoses and medications often carry a stigma with the general public. I believe in helping all clients remove shame and normalize emotions. This is also accomplished by taking my client's mental health history into account, especially when past counselors or psychiatrists have been unhelpful (or even harmful).
