About
It can feel like our feelings have us, rather than the other way around. We feel stuck in the same old patterns, and replay the same scripts and marching orders lived out since before we can remember. As a psychotherapist, I provide an empathic space where the patient can feel supported in their psychological growth and where their individuality is both valued and nurtured.
The work I do with clients includes reworking how relationships “play out” repetitive patterns, examining the origins of these patterns, letting go of old narratives that have been outgrown, learning how to give interest to unconscious processes, grieving for the past, and dreamwork. I like to take an approach that honors depth with compassion and curiosity.
The word “psychotherapy,” from the Greek psyche (soul), and therapeia (to listen, or attend to), may provide some insight into what is truly healing: an active listening and careful tending to the deep inner workings of the psyche in an empathic and therapeutic relationship.
