It can be difficult to manage “all the things”, and the emotional stuff is often secondary. Couples, "helpers", and women are specialties of mine. Helpers need outlets, and I'm here for you, to give back to you. If you are seeking couples counseling, it can be difficult to grow into your full, whole selves together, but it is also worth the hard work to show up as your whole self, and honor your partner’s whole self. It is an act of courage to set aside place for your whole self and healing. One hour, a place for you to show up, to explore the “stuff” in your soul.
Sometimes, we all need a little support and help to do the rewarding hard work. I ask a lot of questions in session to guide us. I use metaphor, analogy and humor to engage you A LOT. An example from a recent session I’ve used: “You are a slinky! You can be at more than one level or step in your life.”
I have a background in community mental health, but my training has always been focused on systems, family, and couples. I utilize trauma informed care, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and solutions focused therapy. I have been trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 2). I'm licensed in both Indiana and Colorado.
