I help individuals who struggle with long-term alcohol and substance use. Many use substances to cope with depression, anxiety, rejection, and stress, but this can lead to challenges in daily life, such as difficulties in social interactions, managing responsibilities, and maintaining healthy relationships. In therapy, I assist clients in understanding their reliance on substances, finding healthier coping strategies, and addressing underlying issues like a lack of purpose and difficulty connecting with others, to support a more fulfilling and balanced life.
Clients gain insight into why they rely on substances. I use CBT to address negative core beliefs and reparenting techniques to build skills like setting boundaries, self-compassion, and emotional validation. I also create a relapse prevention plan, identifying triggers and developing coping strategies for lasting recovery.
Stopping addictive behaviors like substance use can be overwhelming and lonely. It’s normal to feel fear and isolation during this tough process.
