I practice Solution-Focused Therapy: I help you see the deepest strengths you have, the things that helped you make it this far. We use your joyful experiences, your best skills, your quirks, and your deepest motivations to help you overcome the challenges you face now. It's simple, positive, and fast. You don't have to learn any new jargon. We won't dwell too long on what you think might be wrong with you. Quite the opposite. I'm more interested in learning what you were doing in the moments you believed there was something right with you. That's the target.
I've found that this positive, strengths-based approach is often preferred by couples, men, ADHD, autistic, and/or gifted clients. If you fit that description, you may not have had positive results with counselors in the past. Sometimes people just need an ally with an action and future-oriented approach who respects the way you think and solve problems.
I'm curious, emotionally and intellectually tuned-in, and always happy to talk with new people. With over 10 years of helping people who have experienced trauma, substance abuse, minority stress, and relationship conflict, I'm quite good at spotting the best tools that people have in their toolbox.
