Hi my name is Jon Kaplan, and I’m a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Associate (LCMHCA) providing individual therapy in person and via telehealth. I work with ages 20 and up, and I would love to be a support and ally along your life journey.
I received my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina Central University and I also have a bachelor’s degree in political science from American University in Washington, D.C.
Counseling is a career change for me after spending many years working as a musician, writer, and parent.
It’s a natural shift for me in which I can use my life experience, along with my natural empathy, warmth, and sincere interest in others’ lives.
I approach therapy from a person-centered perspective and am influenced by existential and feminist therapy.
I believe that therapy is a collaborative journey between fellow human beings in a nonjudgmental space, and that the most important aspect is finding the right fit between therapist and client. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and identities.
