I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in Somatic Psychotherapy. Somatic simply means "relating to the body" and in therapy this means that I have been uniquely trained to integrate the wisdom from our biology into treatment. Our bodies relate information that, should we choose to listen, can support our overall mental health. This way of working can have profound effects on anxiety, depression, trauma, addictions, and disordered eating. The clients that receive maximum benefit from my approach have an open mind about how the body influences thoughts, not just how thoughts influence the body.
I work well with clients that are collaborative and have a sincere desire to engage in their own lives, rather than seek to be fixed by another. My approach is heavily informed by my clinical training in Somatic Psychotherapy and is my sincere desire to provide trauma-informed, culturally conscious care. My goal is to support your liberation.
Your body and mind are always in conversation. Some therapies focus ONLY on the brain informing the body. In my practice we honor BOTH the power of the mind AND the wisdom of the body. This approach can yield insight and options that we never knew were available. Together, we can cultivate a safe place to explore new potentials and greater capacities!
